Mariner of the Seas

On February 19, Morris Murdock Travel attended the inaugural sailing of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Mariner of the Seas. Leisure agent Liane Foutz shares her experience in her own words...

The entrance to the ship is on deck 4 and the lobby is gorgeous with glass stairs leading up to the next deck. There are beautiful murals on the walls in large colored blown glass baskets and flowers in the hues of orange and green. There are elevators in several locations and some overlook the Promenade.

Cabins PR are inside but with outside windows that also overlook the Promenade and shops. These are great rooms with a 3/4 couch and a window seat so you can people watch. These cabins are a great rate.

I was in cabin 8282 with a balcony which had a table and two deck chairs. It is well decorated. All the wood is very light in color with some touches of chrome. Each cabin has a small glass table with a chair. Good lighting in the cabin. There is also a curtain next to the sofa bed that can be drawn for privacy with 3rd of 4th in the cabin.

Food on the Mariner of the Seas was delicious. The Buffet on the 11th deck was large and spread all over the room. You need to check all the areas for the food you want as each area was a little different. Great choice of salads, soups, breads, and main entrees. Service was very good. I had escargot for dinner, delicious, and surf and turf, also delicious.

The children's area was very spacious and they have good programs for all ages. They have programs for 6-18 months, 18 to 36 months, 3 to 5, 6 to 8, 8 to 11, 12 to 14 and to.

There is a large ice skating rink where we saw a marvelous show one afternoon that was very professional. There's also a Rock Climbing Wall.

The pool area is spacious with a lot of chairs as well as a surfing pool.

The Show room is the Savoy Lounge and is very large with no pillars to block your view and comfortable seats with glass holders. The evening show is a Vegas Style Revue with good singers and dancers.
